Change registered user in Windows XP

There are times when you want to change the Registered to: information in the System Properties (which you can see by right-clicking on My Computer icon on desktop and selecting Properties). You can do this by following these instructions give below. Note that you must have administrator privileges to make this work.

  1. Open Registry Editor by opening Start Menu → Run, typing regedit.exe and pressing Enter.
  2. Navigate to the key,
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion
  3. On the right pane in the Registry Editor, find a value named RegisteredOrganization. Double click on it, to edit its value. Type the name of your company and click OK to save the changes.

  4. Find another value named RegisteredOwner in the right pane. Double click on it, to edit its value. Type the desired username and click OK to save the changes.
