Enable Task Manager in Windows 7

You may have the Task Manager disabled in your Windows 7 installation. This may be because of many reasons. For example, a malware can infect and disable the task manager in your Windows 7 installation. But you can easily enable it again. Here is how :

Method 1 :

  1. Press the key combination Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type gpedit.msc in the Run dialog and press Enter. This would start the Local Group Policy Editor.
  3. In the Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to User Configuration → Administrative Templates → System → Ctrl-Alt-Del Options as shown

  4. Double-click on Remove Task Manager and choose Enabled and click OK to save the settings.

Method 2 :

  1. Press the key combination Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type regedit.exe in the Run dialog and press Enter. This would start the Windows Registry Editor.
  3. In the Registry Editor, navigate to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem

  4. Double-click on DisableTaskMgr and change the value to 0.
