Start Windows Explorer in a preset folder in Windows XP

In Windows XP, when you start the Windows Explorer from its Start Menu shortcut, it always starts in the My Documents folder. If you want to open it in a special folder of your choice, then you will have to change few settings in the shortcut properties. Here is how :

  1. Right-click on the Windows Explorer shortcut located in Start Menu → All Programs → Accessaries → Windows Explorer
  2. From the right-click menu, select Properties as shown,

  3. In the shortcut properties window, change the target field to :
    %SystemRoot%explorer.exe /n, /e, C:Games

  4. Of course, change the C:Games in the end to the full path of any folder you want to be opened.

  5. Click OK to save the settings. Now when you open Windows Explorer by choosing the shortcut from the Start Menu, it would open in a folder of your choice.
