Google Transliteration IME Offline Installer

Google Transliteration enables a user with a standard English US keyboard to type in many Asian languages. Google Transliteration IME is a software that you can install in Windows to type in any of those supported languages. Google Transliteration IME is currently available for 22 different languages – Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi (Persian), Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Sinhalese, Tamil, Telugu, Tigrinya and Urdu. But the problem is that you need to be online to install Google Transliteration IME software. What about computers without any internet connection ? Google does not offer it for offline installation but here is a workaround using which you can extract Google Transliteration IME offline installer and install it on any computer you want :

  1. Visit the Google Transliteration IME site http://www.google.com/ime/transliteration/ in your browser.
  2. Select the apropriate languauge and operating system type (32 bit or 64 bit) and start downloading the Google IME software.

  3. Double-click on the downloaded file to start the setup process. It will download data from the internet and then you will see the end user license agreement window as shown. Stop right here!

  4. Do not click Next in the window. But press the key combination Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog. In the Run dialog type %programfiles%GoogleUpdateDownload and press Enter.

  5. A folder would open up. You would see a sub-folder named like {06A2F917-C899-44EE-8F47-5B9128D96B0A} or something similar. Double-click on this subfolder and you would find the full offline installer for Google Transliteration IME for the language you selected at download time.

    For me the installer was googlehindiinputsetup.exe for the Hindi language (Indian language). The file name may be different for you depending on the language you wanted to install Google IME for. You can copy this file to a pen drive and use it to install Google IME software on a computer not connected to the internet.
