By default, Windows automatically detects the contents of a folder and decides what kind of folder it may be – General, Music, Documents, Pictures or Videos folder. So if you copy some music files to a folder, then Windows may optimize this folder as a Music folder. But if you do not want Windows to automatically optimize your folders, then you can manually optimize a folder type for any folder in Windows 7. Here is how :
- Right-click on any folder that you want to optimize and choose Properties from the context menu as shown.
- In the Properties folder that opens, select the Customize tab. Here you can choose a folder kind from the drop-down list under the Optimise this folder for title. You can choose from General Items, Documents, Pictures, Music and Videos.
- Finally click on the OK button to save the settings. The settings are saved only for the selected folder. The changes are reflected immediately.
