Recover Deleted Files Using Pandora Recovery

It is a matter of common knowledge that deleted files in Windows end up in the Recycle Bin. But what of you have emptied the Recycle Bin as well? If you accidentally delete some file and at a later time, after realizing your mistake, want it back, then you can undelete it using a freeware application called Pandora Recovery. It can be used to recover deleted or erased files from your hard disk, pen drives, memory cards and more.

Pandora Recovery allows you to find and recover recoverable deleted files from NTFS and FAT-formatted volumes. Pandora Recovery will scan your hard drive and build an index of existing and deleted files and directories (folders) on any logical drive of your computer with supported file format. Once the scanning is complete you have full control over which files to recover and what destination to recover them to. You can browse the hierarchy of existing and deleted files. You can also use the search functionality to find a deleted file if you remember some information of the deleted file like its name, size or creation date etc.

You can download Pandora Recover from its web site. The download is available in form of a setup installer. During the installation it tries to install a toolbar which is not necessary for the functioning of Pandora Recovery. So you may deselect the toolbar in the setup process if you want. After the installation, you can launch Pandora Recovery from its Desktop shortuts. You are given two choices – start a wizard or go to the Browse interface.

You can select the volume that you wish to browse for files and select your scanning method – Browse, Search or Deep Scan. In other words, you can look for every deleted or lost file, or filter your search according to the full or partial file name, file size, as well as date of creation and modification. The Deep Scan mode takes a little longer than the other methods for the obvious reason – it scans your hard disk more thoroughly. You can also filter the search to find only certain types of documents like Microsoft Word, MP3 or video files among others.

When the deleted files are shown in the interface, you can also right-click over a file in the list and select Recover to…. You can also double-click on a file to recover it. This would open a Recovery dialog where you have to choose a destination folder and click on the Recover Now button to start recovering it.

Pandora Recovery enables you to recover accidentally deleted files from NTFS, FAT16 and FAT32 formatted drives or memory cards, even if they have been emptied from the recycle bin. The program offers a quick scan for recently deleted files and a more time consuming surface scan that attempts to find all deleted files.
