If you are smart then you must have an anti-virus product installed on your system to ward off the malware infection. But sometimes only a simple anti-virus is not enough. The download file size is only around ten megabytes. If you already have malware infection on your system and it is preventing you from installing MBAM, then you should first rename the file to something else like trisha.exe. The installation process is very easy. At the end of the installation you should choose to update and launch MBAM. You should always update MBAM before scanning so that it can use the latest malware definitions.
In the main MBAM window, you can choose to perform a quick scan or a full scan (the flash scan is only available for paid version). The quick scan scans only the key areas of your system for the presence of malware. The full scan scans your entire hard disk for malware. For the first time use, you should choose the Perform full scan option. For regular scans, you can start by choosing the Perform quick scan and then if malware is found, you should choose Perform full scan to scan your system more thoroughly. So select an option and click on the Scan button to start the scanning.
During the scan, MBAM scans your file system, registry, startup objects and the system memory. It can also scan files inside compressed archives. After the scanning is complete, if MBAM finds any malware, you can click on the Show Results button to see the details of malware found. If no malware is found, then you do not have to do anything and an information that “no malware is found” would be shown.
Clicking on the Show Results would bring up the results window in which all the found malware items are shown in a list. In the results list of the found malware, the items are pre-selected for removal. All you have to do is click on the Remove Selected button to remove the found malware as shown.
This would make MBAM start the malware removal process. While some malware items are removed instantly, others may require you to restart the computer. During the removal of malware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware may require you to restart the computer in order to do a complete removal. If it displays a message saying that it needs to restart, you should allow it to do so.
The free edition of the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can only perform on-demand scanning which is very easy to do. Just keep updating and scanning your system once every week with it. But if you want more protection like flash scanning, real-time scanning, scheduled scanning and auto-updating, then you have to buy the paid edition which supports all these extra functionalities.
