You have to install it on your computer before you can use OPSWAT Security Score. When it starts, it shows a big circular start button, clicking on which you can start the analysis process.
The analysis of your computer security takes only a few minutes. It checks various aspects of your computer security like firewall, anti-virus, anti-phishing, public file sharing, backup, patch management and hard disk encryption. It gives you scores for these different security aspects in form of a pie chart. The individual scores are shown for all security features and the a total score for your PC security is shown in the center.
If you get full score in a certain area of security, then its a thing to be happy about. But if you do not get full score in any field, then you can click on that field and see what you can do to improve your security score. For example, it gave my antivirus a score of 20 out of 30. When I clicked on the antivirus section, it showed me a window giving details and indicating that score is lower because a full scan has never been run on the PC and because threats have been detected on the PC before.
The OPSWAT Security Score tool also has an option to save the log file. This log file contains extensive information about your system and can be used by a security expert to determine how you can improve your security and make your PC hard to break in by hackers or malware.
OPSWAT Security Score tool is a free and easy-to-use program, so you can keep it on a USB key and run on your friends PC to help them assess their security status too. It is amazing to see how many of us ignore these simple security features like a backup tool or hard disk encryption.
