When someone says mixed tape, it takes me back to 90s when these kind of tapes were very popular. People spent hours recording songs on their tape recorder from sources like radio or other cassette tapes and put a lot of effort in the mixed tapes. Although mixed tapes are no longer that much popular, but these days you can create a mixed tape in a few clicks on your computer. All you need is a collection of MP3 songs, a blank CD and the Random MixTape Maker software.
The Random MixTape Maker software is a free software that you can download from the Donation Coder website. It can create random playlists from a collection of MP3 songs on your hard disk or from portable MP3 player. After downloading the ZIP archive, you can extract the mixtape.exe and double-click on it to run it.
In the window that shows up, you can select a folder that contains the MP3 files. This folder can be a folder on your hard disk or a portable MP3 player drive. After this you can just click on the Create Playlist button to create the random playlist. It will randomly pick songs from your MP3 collection and add them to the playlist. You can save this playlist to anywhere on your hard disk by clicking on the Save Playlist button.
Random MixTape Maker also allows you to customize how the playlist is created. For example, in the options, you can choose the maximum play duration for the playlist, the maximum size of the playlist, the years range from which the songs should be chosen, limits for the individual song durations and so on.
Once the playlist has been created, you can insert a blank CD in your CD writer drive and copy all the songs from the playlist to that CD using either the Windows own CD writer or a third party tool like CD Burner XP. The popular media player Winamp also has a plugin to write the songs in a playlist directly to a blank CD. You can open this playlist in the Winamp, select all the songs by pressing Ctrl + A and then right-click on the playlist and select Send To → CD Burner as shown.
Once the CD is burned and ready, you can either paste a nice sticker on it or write something on it and gift it to your friends for their listening pleasure.
