There are many websites that can show you your Internet download and upload speed, but now Microsoft has come up with a Windows 8 app that can be used to check your network speed and other settings. It can show you your network download speed, upload speed, ping delay etc. It is a Windows 8 app so it can be installed both in the Windows 8 PC as well as your Windows 8 Phone.
You can visit the Microsoft Network Speed Test App page and click on the View in Windows Store button to open the link in Windows App Store. There you can go through the installation as you usually do.
After the app has been installed, you can access it from the Windows Start Screen. This app tests your network speed (for most of the users network means the Internet) for network delay, download speed and upload speed.
Using servers all over the world, Network Speed Test measures your network connection’s latency and throughput. Based on your connection’s speed, Network Speed Test will tell you what activities you might be able to do, such as stream music or video calls. On the right side, it will display a history of your previous tests for easy comparisons.
Network Speed Test can provide you detailed information about the upload and download speeds of your Internet connections. The App also maintains a history of the Internet connections you have tested for easy comparison. Now you no longer have to depend on speed testing websites when checking the speed of your Internet connections; now you can just use this Windows 8 app to find out if your ISP is being honest with you.
