- Right-click on a folder, the icon of which you want to change. Select Properties from the right-click context menu.
- In the Properties window, select the Customize tab. Under the category Folder Icons category, click on the Change Icon button.
- In the window that opens up, click on the Browse button and select the icon ICO file that you want to set. If you do not have any good ICO files, you can download some from http://www.iconarchive.com/.
- Click on the OK button to set the icon. Now if you look at the folder in Windows File Explorer, you would see the new icons for the folders.
If at any later stage, you want to restore the default icons for the folder, then follow the same above steps – except in the step 3, click on the Restore Defaults button and then click on the OK button. This would restore you folder icons back to the regular ones.
