hubiC is a new free online storage service powered by OVH, a France based web hosting company. They offer 25 GB of free online storage to everyone. You can access your account either through a web browser or through a platform specific client. They have clients for all the popular platforms including Windows, Android, iOS (iPhone and iPod), BlackBerry, Mac, Linux and Windows 8.
You should download a client or app for your favorite platform. You can access the same hubiC account from different devices, for example, you can setup a desktop client on Windows, and an app on your iPhone etc. The Windows desktop client is around 6 MB in size and comes as a setup installer. After the installation of Windows desktop client, your computer has to be restarted. After you restart your computer, hubiC window shows up offering you to create a new hubiC account.
After the creation of the account, you can set your hubiC folder which is synchronized with your online account – whatever file operation you perform on them (copying files, deleting files, modifying files etc.) shall be reflected in the online storage and vice versa. By default, it create a folder hubiC in your user profile folder, but you can select more folders to be synchronized if you want.
Later if you want to change, add or remove the synchronized folders, then you can open the settings by right-clicking on the hubiC notification area icon and selecting Settings. From the right-click menu, you can also pause or initiate the synchronization or view its status.
In the settings window you can change the hubiC account and switch to another hubiC account. You can change, add and remove folders to be synchronized with your online account. You can choose a synchronization time gap which is 10 minutes by default. There are also settings to prevent Windows sleep-mode during synchronization and limiting the upload or download limits.
If you open one of the synchronized folders, you would see all your files on the hubiC online account. If you want to upload files to your hubiC account, then all you have to do is copy them and paste them in these synchronized folders. If you want to share a folder or file with your friends, then you can right-click on that folder/file and select hubiC → Publish.
You can also access your online storage account through a web browser. All you have to do is visit https://hubic.com/en/ and login using your hubiC credentials.
