Receive Windows 10 Preview as an Update in Windows 7 or 8.1

As of now, Windows 10 is available as a technical preview from Microsoft. Anyone who wants to check out this latest offering from Microsoft, can download it from the Microsoft servers in form of an ISO file, burn it on a blank DVD and then install on your system. But this process requires too many steps to make it look exciting for Windows users who do not really want to dedicate so much time in just installing the Windows 10 Technical Preview on their computers. Fortunately, Microsoft has now come up with a much easier method to get Windows 10 Technical Preview through the Windows Update feature.

If you want to receive Windows 10 Technical Preview on your Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 computer as a Windows Update, then you will have to use the tools to make changes to your Windows settings. Here is how:

  1. Download the Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 tool from the Dropbox link.
  2. Extract the downloaded file to a folder and run one of the executable files that suits your operating system. You have to run PrepareWin7ForWindowsTechnicalPreview.exe tool for Windows 7 SP1 and PrepareWin81ForWindowsTechnicalPreview.exe for Windows 8.1.
  3. It will show you a message that it does not support your OS, if you are not running Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1. Otherwise, you can click on the OK button to proceed with making the changes to your system.Windows 10 Preparation Tool
  4. After it has done with making the changes in Windows, it will show a information box explaining you that your PC is ready for receiving Windows 10 Technical Preview in early 2015.Windows 10 Preparation Tool

After this, you can go on using your PC without having to check the Microsoft website for release of the new version of Windows 10 Preview. It will be automatically made available for you in early 2015.
