Change the Taskbar, Window Border and Start Menu Color in Windows 10

Windows 10 comes with a standard blue theme and blue wallpaper by default. This look is not bad, but you can download and install new and much better themes in Windows 10 from Microsoft’s own website. These new themes change the taskbar, window border and the Start menu color, but they do not allow you to manually change the colors for these items. You can either keep installing new themes that have the color of your choice, or you can open the advanced personalization section of the Control Panel to customize the color for the taskbar, window border and the start menu items. Here is how:

  1. Press the hotkey Win+R to open the Run dialog. In the Run dialog, type the following and press Enter:
    rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,Advanced,@Advanced

  2. A new window will open up from where you can choose the color and the color intensity for your taskbar, window borders and the Start menu.
  3. You can also use the color mixer to customize the hue, saturation and the brightness of the selected color.Windows 10 Customize Color, Window Border, Start Menu
  4. When you are satisfied with the selected color, you can click on the Save changes button to apply the color.

Conclusion: Windows 10 does not make it easy to customize the colors for the window borders, taskbar and the Start menu, but you can still manage to do so using a secret command. Even after using this method, Windows 10 does not allow you to change the color of the window title bar.
