Franz : Use Multiple Messaging Apps from One Place

Franz is a free software that allows you to use a number of messaging apps from one place in your desktop. It supports Google Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, Skype, TweetDeck, SteamChat, Telegram, Slack, WhatsApp, WeChat, HipChat, Chatwork, Flowdock, Groupme, RocketChat, MatterMost, Grape, Gitter, DingTalk, Discord and MySMS. It works on all the major platforms like Windows, Linux and Mac. Basically, it uses either the desktop clients of these services or their web apps from inside the Franz window. Perhaps this is why the setup installer is a large file.

When Franz starts for the very first time, you have to add all the services that you want to use. But you can also add new services at any later time. To add a service, just click on its icon in the Franz window and then assign a name to that service.

For example, if you want to add TweetDeck service (a third party client for Twitter), then click on its icon and give the name of your choice. Giving a simpler name like “Twitter” makes things easier if you plan to add many more services later on.

The newly added services appear in form of new tabs in the Franz window. If you have added lots of services and there are too many tabs, then you can press the F11 hotkey to switch Franz into the full-screen mode so that you can easily manage all of your messaging services. Of course, after adding a service you will have to login to that service using your username and password.

Whenever a new message appears in any one of the enabled services that you have successfully signed in to using your credentials, it is displayed in the notification area icon which displays the number of messages as the icon. You can double-click on this icon to open the main Franz window.

Conclusion: Franz is for the people who find it irritating to use multiple apps to use all the different messenger services. It can tie up all these services in one place and makes it very easy for you to enjoy them.
