The Edge web browser that comes pre-installed in Windows 10 is perhaps not the most customizable web browser in the world, but you can definitely change its theme. Edge web browser can be made to have either light or dark theme. Unfortunately, there is no other choice other than these two. By default the Edge browser uses the Light theme. Note: These steps require that you have upgraded to the latest version of Windows 10. In the versions before the Windows 10 version 1607, the Edge web browser does not have the themes related options. In those versions, you might have to run the automatic updates to upgrade the Edge web browser first.
- Launch Edge web browser in your Windows 10 PC.
- Click on the hamburger menu icon (it looks like three horizontal lines) to view the browser menu. Then select Settings from this menu.
- Under the Choose a theme you will find two themes in the drop-down list – Light and Dark. You can select any of these and the theme will be instantly applied to the Edge web browser.
If you are wondering why there are only two themes (Lights and Dark) available for the Edge web browser, then you should know that Edge browser is actually designed keeping the touch-screen ready computers in mind – like the tablet computers and 2-in-1 devices (notebook computers that can be used both as a laptop or as a tablet after detaching the keyboard from them) and other similar devices. For these devices, the light theme works great for the day time and the dark theme works better at the night time.
