Volume UnLock: Use Volume Buttons to Unlock Android Device

If you count how many times you lock and unlock your Android phone using the power button every day, then the count would easily reach one hundred if not more. Not to mention that the same button is used to power the phone on or power it off. With so much use, the simple push button is subjected to more wear and tear than any other button in the device. And often within a year, this power button stops working or you have to press it harder and multiple times to make it work.

If your Android phone’s power button has stopped working, then you can use the volume buttons to unlock the device. For this you would need an app called Volume UnLock. Through this app, you can unlock your Android smartphone screen using the volume up or the volume down buttons.

After installing the Volume UnLock app in your Android smartphone, the first thing you have to do is to assign the device administrator status. In order to do this, you have to open Android Settings, then Security and then the Device Administrators. From here you have to place a checkmark against the Volume UnLock in the list. After this you have to tap on the Activate when such an option appears on your screen.

Now you can launch the Volume UnLock app and enable all the options – Enable/Disable Volume Power, Start on boot, Screen Off from Notification. Once these options have been selected, you will be able to turn off the screen using the option from the Android notifications by tapping on Screen off. And as you may have guessed, you can turn the screen back on using any of the volume up or the volume down buttons. But you won’t be able to use the volume buttons to turn the screen back on if you lock the screen using the power button.

Conclusion: If your Android phone’s power button is broken, you can use the Volume UnLock app and use the volume buttons to lock and unlock the power button.
