OpenDrive is a cloud based backup solution for multiple platforms including Windows, Mac and Android. For the bloggers and the website administrators who use WordPress as their content management system, it also offers an OpenDrive backup plugin to backup all of your website data. As far as the Windows operating system is concerned, you are able to access your files stored on the cloud using a virtual drive created by the OpenDrive software. A similar approach is taken for the Mac, but in Android all the files are accessible through the app’s interface only.
Before you can use the OpenDrive client on any platform, you must have an OpenDrive account. It allows you to create a free account and gives you 5 GB of free data storage associated with the free account. But the free account is limited by a number of restrictions. For example, you are not allowed to download more than 1 GB of data every day. Similarly, you cannot upload files of size more than 100 MB to the cloud. Perhaps these limitations are put in place to avoid its misuse.
In the Windows app version of OpenDrive client, you can schedule your files to be backed up on the cloud. You can select the files that you do not want to be scheduled and sent over to the cloud under the exclusion list. If there is some synchronization problem that occurs, then it will send you a notification to the effect.
OpenDrive is an easy to use cloud backup solution that offers 5 GB of free storage space. You can access these files through a virtual drive created in Windows or Mac computers. An app for Android devices also exist and can be used to access your files from anywhere.
