Intel Extreme Tuning Utility is an overclocking, tuning and bench-marking software for Intel based computers. Designed by Intel, this utility works on all the Intel chips using the SandyBridge, IvyBridge, Haswell, Broadwell, Skylake, and Kabylake micro-architecture. But some of the Intel processors do not support overclocking. It works on all the computers running Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
After installing the software in your Windows PC, you have to reboot it before Intel Extreme Tuning can be used. In the opening screen, it displays the system information such as the processor, graphics, memory, motherboard, BIOS and so on. In the lower portion of the window, it displays the real-time values for the CPU utilization, package temperature, core frequency, memory utilization, etc.
For tuning the various parts of your computer, you can switch to the respective tabs like the core, cache, graphics, and other. You can also run a stress test to test the CPU, memory and the graphics card. Furthermore, it can also run a benchmark for your computer’s hardware which should be run after you fine tune the various hardware parameters for the graphics or the cores.
Under the profiles, you can find overclocking profiles for your Windows computers. You can use the overclocking profile that the software offers by default, that your computer manufacturer has installed or create your own profiles. Depending on your Intel processor, you may have several profiles that push your hardware to the max or that overclock your PC without putting much burden on the system.
