Add Face Recognition Login to Any Windows or Mac Computer

In the new versions of Windows 10, Microsoft has added an in-built face recognition login feature, but the problem with this feature is that it works only if the webcam in your laptop is compatible with Windows Hello. If it is not the case, then you will see the message – “Windows Hello is not available on this device” message in the Windows settings. A work around is to either buy a Windows Hello compatible PC or just use a third party face recognition software like KeyLemon.

KeyLemon is a facial recognition software for Windows and Mac that works with all different types of webcams. Using KeyLemon, you can login to Windows or Mac and unlock the computer just by sitting in front of your computer instead of typing the password. KeyLemon does give you option to fall back to the password based login, but you can remove this option from the KeyLemon settings.

After installing the software, you will be asked to create a face recognition user profile for the currently logged in user. You basically have to look into the webcam, KeyLemon will capture your picture and then you can click on Create my profile button to proceed. After this, you can enter the user password for the currently logged in user and it is done. You can later alter the facial recognition data by “adapting” the profile to a different environment.

In the settings, you can change the level of security between medium and high. In the high setting only face recognition login is allowed. In the medium setting, you can switch to password based login. You can enable anti-spoofing methods like eye blinking (it will ask you to blink your eyes) and head movement (it will ask you to turn your head to the left and to the right). These anti-spoofing can protect you from people trying to login into your PC using your picture.

Once you have created your KeyLemon face recognition user profile, you can try to login using face recognition. For this, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and then choose Lock to lock your Windows PC. As you press any key, the face recognition pops up and in the fraction of a second you are logged in.

Conclusion: KeyLemon can bring facial recognition to every PC and Mac. Setting up it is very easy and it does provide protection against people trying to login in your computer using your pictures. It is available as a trial version that works for 7 days after which you have to buy a license key.
