Enable Classic Windows 98 theme on Windows 7
Windows 7 comes with a lot of bells and whistles. Windows Aero is one of those eye candies that make Windows look cooler. But Aero can make Windows slow and sluggish, It can also put extra load on your GPU (graphic processing unit) card. If you are done enjoying Aero and other modern thems and looking forward to make Windows 7 a work horse, you can disable modern themes and use Windows 7 in the classic Windows 98 style theme making Windows 7 even faster.
Follow these simple instruction to disable Windows Aero :
- Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize as shown in this picture.
- This would open Personalization window in which you would see a lot of themes. Under the category Basic and High Contrast Themes you would see a theme labeled Windows Classic. Click on this theme. You would soon see that Aero has been turned off and Windows is now in classic theme mode.
Enabling classic theme will make your computer faster for sure at the cost of using an ugly plain interface. Later if you miss Aero theme, you can follow the same steps only this time click on any theme under the category Aero Themes as shown in the picture below :
