Enable or Disable Transparency in Windows 7

Windows 7 shows transparency in windows, taskbar and menubars. This makes your desktop look better and is definitely a eye candy. But if you do not care much about how windows looks then you can disable transparency and make windows opaque - this would save you some CPU power and make Windows work a little faster. Here is how you can disable or enable windows transparency in Windows 7 :

  1. Right click anywhere on your desktop and choose Personalize.

  2. Click on the Window Color at the bottom in the Personalization window.

  3. un-check the checkbox labeled Enable Transparency to disable transparency and make windows look opaque.

  4. Click on Save changes to save settings and make changes take effect. If later you decide to enable transparency, then check the checkbox labeled Enable Transparency in step 2 above.
