Disable autoplay in Windows Vista

When you insert a removable disk like CD or USB thumb drive, Windows starts the autoplay wizard. Windows searches the removable disk for its contents and suggests an appropriate action as shown in the picture below :

You can disable this feature using the steps below :

1. Open Start Menu → Control Panel
2. Goto Hardware and Sound → Play CDs or other media automatically as shown in the picture below :
   
3. In the next window, uncheck the checkbox on the top that says Use Autoplay for all media and devices and click on the Save button on the bottom right corner.
