Open elevated command prompt in Windows Vista

An elevated command prompt is a command prompt window running with administrator level access. You can use this kind of command prompt window for accessing files and registry in a way possible only for the administrator. To open an elevated command prompt :

  1. Click on Start Menu.
  2. In the search box type cmd.
  3. You would see cmd.exe appear in the list.
  4. Right-click on cmd.exe in the list and select Run as administrator.

The elevated command prompt is also known as Administrator command prompt. You can see Administrator in the command prompt window title of the elevated command prompt.
