Windows Vista hides important files and folders by default. Also you cannot see any hidden file in Windows Explorer by default. But you can change the settings to make Windows Explorer show hidden files and folders. This article discusses how to show hidden files and folders :

  1. Open any folder. Select Organize • Folder and Search options as shown below :
  2. In the Folder Options dialog, select the View tab. Scroll down and select Show hidden files and folders as shown.
  3. Click OK to save the settings.

You can revert the steps if later you decide not to see the hidden files and folders.
