Uninstall a program in Windows Vista

If you install a software or program in Windows Vista and later decide to remove it, then you can uninstall it using the following procedure.

  1. Open Run dialog by pressing Windows Key + R, type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.

    Alternatively, you can open Control Panel and then click on Uninstall a program under the category of Programs as shown

  2. This would open Programs and Features window. Select the program from the list that you want to uninstall by clicking on it. In the following example picture we have selected Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus.

  3. After you have selected the program, click on the Uninstall icon as shown in the picture above. This would start the uninstall wizard, confirming you that if you really want to uninstall that program. Go through the wizard and the program will be uninstalled. This uninstall wizard may be different for different programs. In some cases, you might have to restart the computer at the end of the wizard.
