Add Desktop toolbar to taskbar in Windows XP

This page was last updated on July 12, 2010

You can add the Desktop toolbar to the Windows taskbar in Windows XP to access all the shortcuts on your Desktop from the comfort of the taskbar. The Desktop toolbar opens up into a menu containing all the shortcuts on your desktop including My Computer icon too. Here is how you can add the Desktop toolbar :

  1. Right click anywhere on an empty area on the Windows taskbar.
  2. From the right-click menu select Toolbars → Desktop.
  3. The Desktop toolbar will be immediately added to the Windows taskbar.

One of the benefits of using the Desktop Toolbar is that you can access any Desktop shortcut without having to minimize any of the open windows.
