This page was last updated on April 03, 2010

Windows XP comes with Windows Messenger which can be used to send and receive messages on a network. But it can become a nuisance if you receive a lot of messages. If you want to remove the Windows Messenger, you can follow these steps :

  1. Open Start Menu → Control Panel → Add or Remove Programs
  2. In the Add or Remove Programs window, click on Add/Remove Windows Components on the left side. This would start Windows Components Wizard
  3. Scroll down and uncheck Windows Messenger as shown. Click Next
  4. After the wizard is done, click on Finish to close it.
