Create a System Restore point in Windows Vista

Windows Vista has a System Restore feature which can be used to restore your computer back to a specified point of time. Every time you install something, it creates a restore point. System Restore makes it easy to roll back changes made by a software installation. Here is how you can manually create a System Restore point in Windows Vista :

  1. Press the key combination Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type SystemPropertiesProtection.exe in the Run dialog and press Enter.

  3. In the System Properties window select the System Protection tab if not already selected.
  4. Click on the Create button as shown

  5. Type the description of the restore point in the dialog box that pops up and click Create.

  6. When Windows finishes creating the restore point, you will see a dialog box informing you that a restore point was successfully created.
