Create a Password for Your Account in Windows 8

When you install and run Windows 8 for the first time, you are given an option to create a user account and choose the username and password. But if you forget to set a password for your user account, then you can do it later very easily. Windows 8 allows you to create a password for your user account through the PC settings. You can follow these simple steps to create a password for your user account :

  1. Press the key combination Windows logo key + I to display the Charms bar in the right side of your screen. In the charms bar, click/tap on Change PC Settings which is displayed at the very bottom of the charms bar.

  2. In the PC Settings screen that opens up, select Users on the left side. Then click/tap on Create a password button shown under the Sign-in options.

  3. In the next screen that is displayed, you have to enter your new password two times. You can also type in a password hint which is very useful if you forget your password. But do not use an obvious hint or just everyone would be able to guess the password. Click/tap Next to continue.

  4. Finally click/tap on the Finish button to set your password. That’s it. From now you, whenever you start your PC, it would ask you to enter your password to sign-in to Windows.
