Disable URL Prediction Service in Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a very fast and advanced web browser with tons of features. One of the features it comes with is the URL prediction service which suggests web domain names as you type a URL in the location bar. This may be helpful if for some people, but others may find it annoying because the predicted URLs are sometimes embarrassing. If you fall in the second category, then there is a way to disable this URL prediction feature. Here is how you can disable this service in Chrome:

1. Open Google Chrome web browser.
2. Click on the icon with three horizontal stripes near the upper-right corner of the Chrome window and select Settings from the menu that appears,

   

3. This would open the settings tab in Google Chrome. In the search box, type URL so that Chrome can show only the URL related settings to you.
4. Among the settings that are displayed, uncheck the checkbox from a setting labeled Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar as shown in the following snapshot:

   

5. You do not have to click on any OK or Save buttons to save the settings. The settings are saved automatically. After this, Google Chrome will not display any predicted URLs as you type a URL in the address bar.
