How to Shred Files Using McAfee Total Protection on Windows

Shredding files is an important practice for several reasons, especially when it comes to sensitive or confidential information. For example, personal information such as social security numbers, bank statements, and medical records can be used by criminals to commit identity theft. Shredding these documents ensures they cannot be reconstructed and misused.

Similarly, documents like bank checks, store invoices, and job contracts can be forged or altered if they fall into the wrong hands. Shredding prevents these documents from being used fraudulently. For shredding physical files, we need a physical shredder but for shredding files on our computers, we need a shredding program.

McAfee Total Protection Shredder is very effective for shredding files on a PC. It provides a secure way to permanently delete files, making them unrecoverable. It comes as a part of the McAfee Total Protection software.

We can use McAfee Total Protection Shredder to shred files on your PC using two ways. First one is by right-clicking on any file or folder and selecting Shred from the right-click context-menu. This “Shred” in the right-click menu should have McAfee logo next to it so as not to confuse it with some other similar tool.
