After uninstalling Kaspersky Internet Security from my Windows PC, I started to see some strange problems. For example, every single time I tried to open Gmail in my Firefox web browser, it tried to load a script from ff.kis.v2.scr.kaspersky-labs.com and could not proceed any further.
The reason for this is very simple. When you are using any of the Kaspersky products, it injects its own script in all the webpages that you visit in your web browsers. These scripts are used for scanning the webpages for any threats. But after you have uninstalled the Kaspersky products for any reason, these scripts are still present in the web browser cache. So when you try to open a website like Gmail, an attempt to load the scripts is made but becomes unsuccessful after a long wait.
As you can guess, the solution for this problem is very easy. You can clear the web browser cache for all of your web browsers. This can be done in the following manner for the Firefox web browser:
- Launch Firefox browser and press the key combination Ctrl+Shift+Del. This will bring up the browser cleaning window.
- In the browser cleaner window, you should select Everything and then only Temporary cached files and pages. Leave everything else un-selected. Then click on the Clear button.
- Restart Firefox and now you will see that the problem has disappeared.
If you do not want to clear the cache for all the websites then you can also clear the cache (and cookies) for only one website. For this, you have to first visit that website, then click on the lock icon in the address bar. Now you can select Clear cookies and site data from the menu that appears.
Before you clear the web browser cookies, you should know that it will log you out of many websites. This is because many sites store the login status information in these cookies. You can also use a professional tool such as CCleaner for cleaning both the web browser cache and the cookies from all the installed web browsers.
