When you want to find out the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) ratings for a movie, you have to visit the IMDB web page and then type in the movie name. But if you are a Google Chrome user, then you can instantly find the IMDB ratings for any movie using the Go to IMDB extension. The Go to IMDB extension allows you to see the IMDB rating for any highlighted movie name on a webpage.

Many web sites specifically mention to open a webpage in a different web browser for it to work properly. For example, my university webpage does not allow to fill online application forms unless you open it in Internet Explorer. One way to do this is start a different web browser, type the webpage address manually and open the site. But if you are using Apple Safari, then you can quickly switch a web page in a different installed web browser.

All the latest web browsers support tabbed web browsing. Mozilla Firefox also allows tabbed web browsing. Internet Explorer 9 supports tab-groups. When you choose to open a link in a new tab, the new tab is grouped together with the existing tab. If you do not like this colored tab groups, then you can disable the tabbed grouping (the colored tabs) in Internet Explorer.

You can install the Mini Golf extension in your Google Chrome web browser and start playing the golf game anytime you want. The golf game starts by clicking on a ball like icon on the Chrome toolbar. If you click on the icon again, the game is closed and you can go back to work.

In Firefox version 3.x when you closed the Firefox browser with many tabs open, you were shown the ‘Saving Tabs dialog’ asking you if you want to save the tabs. If you chose to save the tabs, those tabs were opened next time you started Firefox. But starting in Firefox version 4.x this feature is disabled. If you close the Firefox window, all tabs are closed and not opened the next time. This is irritating. If you want, you can enable the Save Tabs dialogs on exit.

Sometimes when you open a web site, you get an error that the server cannot be reached. You can do nothing much except try to reload that webpage by pressing the refresh F5 button on your keyboard. If you are using the Mozilla Firefox web browser, then instead of pressing F5 again and again, you can use the Try Again add-on for Firefox.

Some web sites allow you to access it using the secure connection (HTTPS), yet show both the secure (HTTPS) and insecure (HTTP) content. If you access such a web site using the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser, you might get a warning prompt – only secure content is displayed. This is because that web site is showing mixed content. You have to choose to display mixed content each time you visit such a site. If you want you can enable displaying of the mixed content permanently.
