Change default source viewer in Internet Explorer

When you visit a web page using the Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can see the source code of that web page by right clicking on it and selecting View Source. By default, the source code is opened in the internal source code viewer of Internet Explorer. But you can change it to whatever text editor you want. Here is how :

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. From the top-right menu choose, Tools → Developer Tools to open the Developer Tools window. You can also press F12 to bring up the Developer Tools window.
  3. In the Developer Tools window, from the menu select the File → Customize Internet Explorer View Source → Other as shown

  4. A file open dialog would open. Browse to the EXE file of the editor you want to use. In the following screenshot, we have chosen the Notepad++ executable file.

  5. After you click the Open button, it would be set as the default source code viewer.
