Although the optical media (CD/DVD) is very handy for long term storage of your files but once the disk surface gets a little scratched, it becomes harder to read data from it. If you try to copy files from such a scratched or damaged disk, then Windows just keeps trying to read data from the unreadable sector of the optical disk and hangs the whole file copying process. But if you use a special software called Unstoppable Copier, then you can copy all the readable files from your disk without any problems.
Unstoppable Copier is a freeware tool to recover files from disks with physical damage. It allows you to copy files from disks with problems such as bad sectors, scratches or other unknown problems that just give errors when reading data. The program will attempt to recover every readable piece of a file and put the pieces together.
You can download Unstoppable Copier from the Roadkill website. It is also available as a portable program, so you do not have to install it in Windows. You can just download it and run the downloaded EXE file. The Unstoppable Copier has a very easy to follow user interface. You have to select a source folder and a target folder. In the source folder, you have to select the CD/DVD drive or one of its sub-folders that you want to copy. In the target folder, you can select a folder on your hard disk where you want to copy the files to. After this, you can click on the Copy button and Unstoppable Copier would start working.
The copying process is very fast and in less than a minute it copies all the contents of your CD disk to the target folder. If it encounters any errors then it would display them in the list of copied files and mark them as corrupt.
In the settings for the Unstoppable Copier, you can choose the level of data recovery from the best recovery which takes a longer time, to the fastest recovery which might not retrieve all the files from you damaged disk. You can also choose to auto-skip damaged files, copy sub-folders, copy empty folders, power down your computer after copying is over and more.
In addition to these copying functions, there are batch options available for repeated copying requirements. Suppose you have to copy some files from one folder to another on a regular basis, then you can create an Unstoppable Copier batch script from the Batch Mode section. You can add multiple source folders & target folders combinations and save them as Unstoppable Copier batch script. When you have to run that batch script, you can open it in the Batch Mode section and click on the Copy button and see the copying action being performed.
Unstoppable Copier is a freeware utility that can be used to copy files from the physically damaged optical disks to your hard disk and recover the data that could not otherwise be read so easily. It can also be used as a batch file copier to create everyday or regular backups. So if you have a scratched or damaged CD/DVD/BRD and you cannot read files off it, then you should try Unstoppable Copier.
