Daemon Sync is a software that helps you share files across multiple devices using the local WiFi network. You do not need a WiFi network with internet access. The software can be used as a media server so that you can enjoy watching videos stored on your PC or Mac on your smartphones or tablets. You can also use it to backup the files from your smartphones to your PC to free up the space on the smartphone. It supports Windows, Mac, iOS and Android platforms.
You begin by installing the server software in Windows PC or Mac. After installing the Daemon Sync server in your desktop or laptop computer, you can right-click on its system tray icon and select Get PIN to generate a PIN that will be used to pair the smartphone with the server. This will open the web interface of Daemon Sync with a new PIN generated. You can refresh this web page to get a new fresh PIN.
If you want to change the name of the server then you can right-click on the system tray icon and choose Preferences. In the preferences, you can choose to automatically run the Daemon Sync server with Windows, show the desktop notifications regarding the files transfer and more.
On your smartphones (Android or iPhone), you will have to install the Daemon Sync app. As you launch this newly installed app, it will start searching for a Daemon Sync server running on the same WiFi network as the smartphone. You can select the server from the list and then enter the PIN to pair the app with the server running in your desktop computer.
Once the app on your smartphone is paired with the server on your desktop computer, pictures and videos that you save in your smartphone will be automatically backed up on your desktop computer. In the app settings, you can choose which types of files should be backed up, the syncing folder on the smartphone, the auto-sync interval, whether to delete files from smartphone after backing them up on the desktop computer and so on.
At any time, as long as the server is running, you can sync the files between your desktop computer and the smartphone by tapping on the Sync button in the app. You can also access the files stored on your PC through the Browse Server option. This way you can watch the videos, view the pictures and other files stored on your PC on any device with the Daemon Sync app installed.
Conclusion: Daemon Sync can be used a backup utility to backup files from smartphone to PC, as media server to watch videos stored on PC and as a syncing tool to auto-sync files between smartphone and PC. It supports Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android and does not need internet access to work.
