There are hundreds of reasons why you would want to record your computer’s screen. But for whatever reason you want to record your PC screen and save it in video files, you can use a free tool called GiliSoft Free Screen Recorder. This small software is able to record your entire computer screen or only a part of the screen and save it in a number of popular video file formats such as MP4, WMV and AVI.

Free Screen Recorder launches into a small window from where you can select target, audio and output settings before hitting the Record button. In the target, you can choose the full-screen to be recorded, choose an area of the screen or your webcam. For the audio, you can select computer sounds (whatever is being played on your computer), microphone or both. And in the destination option, you can select the folder where the video files are to be saved.

After picking these settings, you can click on the Record button to start the recording. But if you click on the down-icon near the Record button, you can find many recording related options such as delay of recording by a few seconds (this gives you time to minimize some windows that you do not want to record), auto-stop recording (this starts recording  after a specified number of seconds and stops recording after the selected time interval) and allows you to take screenshot instead of recording the screen.
