If you are a budding writer then perhaps you should try Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) to publish your books over the Amazon Kindle platform. This way you can reach billions of people all over the world without having to deal with the traditional publishers and their moody agents.
In order to facilitate the book creation process, Amazon is offering a free editor called Kindle Create. It can be used on both Mac and Windows PC. Almost 300 MB in size, this software contains everything you would need to create, edit and publish your books. It generates KPF format files which can be quickly uploaded to your Amazon KDP account for processing further.
The program allows you to either create a new project or start working on an existing project. When you start a new project, you can choose book type to be either reflowable, comics or print replica. Depending on the format you pick, you may have to choose Microsoft Word documents and images.
The software processes your files and creates various pages as well as a contents page. It even processes all the links and gives them a reference number. The book is then opened in an editor where you can modify it, edit it, add more pages and so on. You can change the themes and fonts used in the book. You can look at a preview and see how the book is going to look on an actual Kindle device.
When you are ready to publish, you can click on the “Generate” button to create a KPF file which will be saved locally. This file is then to be uploaded to your Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing account. Amazon will process your file and make it available for everyone who is using Kindle all over the world.
Amazon’s Kindle Create is a really useful software for new and experienced writers alike. But first you have to write your book using Microsoft Word or Libre Writer so that you can save it in DOC or DOCX format. Kindle Create can then use the DOC/DOCX format and allows you to produce KPF files.
