Make Edge Browser Always Run Full-Screen on Windows 11

Microsoft Edge web browser has come through a series of ups and downs. Now finally it has established itself as a fast and futuristic browser that works flawlessly on Windows 11. Microsoft started Edge with their own rendering engine, but now the new modern Edge browser borrows code from the open-source Chromium project. This makes it not only faster but also much more reliable and compatible with extensions from Chrome.

If you often use the web browser in the full-screen mode such as reading e-books and watching movies, then you may even want to create a shortcut to always launch Edge in the full-screen mode.

Here is how we can make Microsoft Edge web browser always run in the full-screen mode:

  1. Find the shortcut for Microsoft Edge browser on your Windows 11 PC desktop.
  2. Right-click on this Edge shortcut and choose Properties from the context-menu. Alternatively, you can select the shortcut and then use the hotkey Alt+Enter to open the “Properties” window for that shortcut.Run Edge Full-Screen
  3. In the Properties window, append –start-fullscreen to the “Target” command. If the original command is “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe”, then change it to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application” –start-fullscreen.Run Edge Full-Screen
  4. Click on the OK button to save the settings.

Now every time you launch the Microsoft Edge web browser, it will be launched in the full screen mode. But this will work only if you launch the Edge browser though this shortcut.

There could be a situation when you cannot find a shortcut to the Microsoft Edge web browser on your Windows desktop. In that case, you can simply create a new shortcut. For creating a new shortcut, you can right-click on the desktop and choose “new shortcut” icon in the context-menu of Windows 11. It will take you to the new shortcut wizard which you can follow easily.

It is highly useful to have a shortcut that launches full-screen Microsoft Edge web browser. For example, you can use the Edge browser for watching videos on sites like YouTube, Netflix and such. I personally like to read the e-newspapers in the full-screen mode.
