Many people do not like the taskbar sticking at the bottom edge (or any other edge) of their screen, as it is not used all the time. You can make the taskbar to show only when you need it. This way you can get more working screen. This is how you can autohide the taskbar in Windows 7 :
- Right click anywhere on the taskbar and select Properties. This would open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window.
- In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, check the checkbox labeled Auto-hide the taskbar as shown
- Click OK to save the settings. You would immediately see the taskbar is hidden and shows up when you mose your cursor at bottom edge of your screen.
