Sometimes we have Firefox browser installed on more than one computers or on different operating systems in a dual boot configuration. And we have bookmarked a different set of bookmarks on each of the installations. If you want the merge the bookmarks from each of these Firefox installations then you can do so easily. This is how :
The following steps show how to merge bookmarks from Firefox installed on Computer 1 to the Firefox installed on Computer 2. But the same procedure can be repeated for more than two computers.
Step 1. Export from Computer 1
- Start Firefox browser.
- From the menubar, select Bookmarks → Organize Bookmarks.
- In the Library window, select from the toolbar Import & Backup → Export HTML.
- Save the exported bookmaks.html file on a USB pen disk. This file would be needed on the second computer.
Step 2. Merge into Computer 2
- Start Firefox browser.
- From the menubar, select Bookmarks → Organize Bookmarks.
- In the Library window, select from the toolbar Import & Backup → Import HTML.
- In the Import Wizard window, there will be two options – Microsoft Internet Explorer and From an HTML file. Choose to import From an HTML File.
- Choose the bookmaks.html file that you saved from the first computer.
- That’s it. You have successfully merged Firefox bookmarks list.
Another win for Trish! You can also use this with one computer if you are copying/restoring an HTML file from your data backups.
