iCall is a telecommunications company based in US. It provides VoIP telephone call making features in its various applications. The good part is that it allows you to make free telephone calls to US and Canada from anywhere in the world. iCall offers iCall 7 for Windows and Mac, iCall Mobile for Android and iPhone and you can also use iCall Web right from your web browser. In addition to making free telephone calls, you can use these different iCall applications to chat with your friends. It supports Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, MySpace Instant Messenger and Facebook Chat.
I personally like iCall Web, as you do not have to install anything on your computer or mobile to use it. You do not have to pay anything. It is free and easy-to-use, and you can start using it right now. iCall Web lets you make free, three-minute phone calls to anywhere in the U.S. and Canada through your browser. There are no accounts to set up, and no subscriptions or downloads are required. iCall Web runs in any browser and on any platform with Adobe Flash installed. You just need speakers or a headset, a microphone, and Adobe Flash Version 9 or higher on your computer.
To make free calls to US and Canada, just visit to iCall Web’s website and create a free account. After logging on to your iCall account, your My iCall page would be opened. Here you can click on the iCall for the Web link. This would open a tiny popup window asking you for your password.
Just enter your password and you would see the iCall window where you can enter a phone number to be dialed. You can click on the Phone tab to open the dialer if you need the usual touchtone button interface. You can also select a country code by clicking the country flag shown next to the phone number dialing text field. Click on the Dial button to start calling process. Before the actual call starts, you would hear advertisement from iCall and then you can make a total of 3 minute long call to any US or Canadian number.
When I tried using iCall Web for dialing a few numbers in the US, it just did not work for many of them. I could hear the advertisements but then it stopped to dial. After trying many times, I was successful in making one call. The sound quality was good. Maybe the success rate of the call making would be better for mobile apps or desktop applications. So if you want to make some free calls on your computer, you can check iCall out. You can visit the iCall Web’s webpage at http://www.icall.com/web.
