Like the older versions of Windows, you can also lock your Windows 8 PC by pressing the Win + L hotkey. But the lock screen has changed very much in Windows 8. Now it looks more like the lock screen of a mobile device, maybe because Windows 8 has been designed keeping the touchscreen tablets in mind. The Windows 8 lock screen shows a background picture that you have to drag up to unlock your PC. Windows 8 allows you to change the background picture of the lock screen. You can follow the following steps to change the lock screen background picture:
- Press the key combination Windows logo key + I to display the Charms bar in the right side of your screen. In the charms bar, click on Change PC Settings which is displayed at the very bottom of the charms bar.
- In the PC Settings screen that opens up, select Personalize on the left side. Then click on Lock screen near the top-right corner of your screen. Windows 8 provides with many eye catching background images for the lock screen. But you can also click on the Browse button to select a picture from your computer. If you choose a custom picture from your computer, then it is better to choose a picture of the same dimensions as the resolution of your screen.
- That’s it. You do not have to click on any OK button or anything. As soon as you select the picture it is automatically set as your lock screen background.
