When you install and run Windows 8 for the first time, you are given an option to create a user account and choose the username and password. But if you forget to set a password for your user account, then you can do it later very easily. Windows 8 allows you to create a password for your user account through the PC settings. You can follow these simple steps to create a password for your user account :
- Press the key combination Windows logo key + I to display the Charms bar in the right side of your screen. In the charms bar, click/tap on Change PC Settings which is displayed at the very bottom of the charms bar.
- In the PC Settings screen that opens up, select Users on the left side. Then click/tap on Create a password button shown under the Sign-in options.
- In the next screen that is displayed, you have to enter your new password two times. You can also type in a password hint which is very useful if you forget your password. But do not use an obvious hint or just everyone would be able to guess the password. Click/tap Next to continue.
- Finally click/tap on the Finish button to set your password. That’s it. From now you, whenever you start your PC, it would ask you to enter your password to sign-in to Windows.
