Turn off Family Safety for Users in Windows 8

The Family Safety feature in Windows 8 is very useful if you have young children in home. It can be used to block unsuitable websites, games, apps and more. You can also use it to limit the amount of time your kids spend on computer. But if you accidentally switch it on for a user then that user will not able to visit the websites he/she wants to. You can turn off the Family Safety filters for any user very easily. Here is how :

Note : Only an administrator can setup Family Safety for other users in Windows 8.

  1. Press the hotkey Win + X and select Control Panel from the menu that pops up. This would open the Control Panel window. In the Control Panel, click/tap on User Accounts and Family Safety and then on Setup Family Safety for any user as shown in the following picture:

  2. Select the user for whom you want to setup Family Safety. As you click on the target user, it would open the Family Safety settings for that user.

  3. Under the Family Safety select the option Off to turn the Family Safety off for the selected user as shown in the following picture:

  4. That’s it. You have successfully turned off Family Safety for a user account on your PC. From now on that user would have full access to all types of web sites, games and apps. That user would also be able to use the computer non-stop for as many hours as he/she pleases.
