When you open File Explorer in Windows 8, it displays all the partitions on all the drives attached to your computer. By default, it displays the drive letters for each of the partition. Although drive letters make it easy to identify the drives, some people do not want to see the drive letters. If you want to know how to toggle on and off the displaying of the drive letters, then you can follow the simple instructions below :
- Open File Explorer by pressing the Win + E hotkey. Navigate to any folder inside the file explorer.
- In the ribbon bar, select the View section and then click on the Options button.
- This would open the Folder Properties window. Select the View tab. In order to disable showing the drive letters, un-check the checkbox labeled Show drive letters. If you want to enable showing of drive letters, then check the Show drive letters checkbox.
- Click on the OK button to save the settings.
