Usually you send an email to someone and then wait for their response, checking your inbox everyday for their response. Sometime we get so anxious and desperate that we lose our sleep over it. The question whether the recipient has opened our email or not, inundates our mind. But now you can keep your mind at rest using the free extension for the Chrome browser. It can tell you if the recipients have opened and read the email, the instant they open it.

Signals extension has been designed by the HubSpot. You can download and install the Signals extension from the Google Chrome webstore website. After the installation, you are ready to use it. It works with Gmail, Microsoft Outlook (previously known as Hotmail), Salesforce and Hubspot. The first step you would require is to connect your email services. To do this, click on the Signals button in the Chrome toolbar and select Connect your services to get started.

This will take you to the Signals website where you can connect you Gmail or Outlook emails. For Outlook, the process includes sending an email to your email address and then confirming it, followed by downloading and installing a little program. For Gmail, you can just give permission to Signals to access your email account and be done with it.

After connecting your email services with Signals, when you send a new email in Gmail or Outlook, you would notice an option to track the email message. In Gmail, this option is selected when you start composing a new message. When this option is selected, the send button changes to orange color with Signals logo, instead of the usual blue color Gmail send button.

When the recipient has opened the sent message, you are shown a desktop notification as well as a notification message in the Chrome web browser. The notification contains the time when the email message was opened, the number of times the message was opened and the location from where the message was opened.

The Signals works by embedding a script in your sent email message. When the recipient opens the email, the script is executed and the information about opening the email is collected by the Signals’ servers. It is a very easy and nice way of getting informed about who has read your sent messages and when. Now your friends or employees cannot tell lies about having read your email messages.
