When you install a new add-on in Firefox, some of them want you to restart Firefox in order to finish the installation. But if you want to restart Firefox manually, then strangely enough, there is no restart option available in Firefox. Now you can add a restart option in Firefox browser using a new add-on called Restart. It adds many options in Firefox user interface which allow you to easily restart the Firefox browser.
You can download and install the Restart add-on for Firefox from the Mozilla add-on website. The installation process requires you to restart Firefox. After the installation, you would find three new changes made in your Firefox browser:
- Restart Menu – The restart option in the menubar can be accessed easily by pressing the Alt key and then selecting File → Restart.
- Restart Button – The restart button is displayed near the top-right corner of the Firefox window. Clicking on this restart button would instantly restart Mozilla Firefox.
- Restart Hot Key – The default restart hotkey is Ctrl + Alt + R. But you can change it from the Restart add-on settings. In fact, the options for this add-on have options only for the hotkey and nothing else. You can use any combination of Ctrl, Alt, Shift and an alpha-numeric character. You can also enable or disable this hotkey if you want.
So if you want a restart option in Firefox, then you can use this simple Restart add-on. It is very useful when Firefox is not responding due to unresponsive scripts or just want to restart Firefox to let it release all the physical memory it has been using.
