Google Chrome is quickly becoming the web browser of first choice for more and more people. This is mainly because it works very fast and consumes so little of the system resources, at the same time providing you with the top notch security and offering a wide variety of features through the thousands of extensions. If you are also using Chrome and are in the habit of saving your passwords in Chrome, then you can always recover your forgotten passwords from the Chrome browser as it offers an very easy way to view the saved passwords in plain text form.
Here is how you can view the saved passwords in the Google Chrome web browser:
- Open Google Chrome web browser. Type chrome://settings in the address bar and press Enter.
- This would open the settings page for your Chrome browser. Here you can type passwords in the search field to narrow down the settings and show the ones related to passwords only. Under the passwords and forms section, click on the Manage saved passwords link as shown,
- This would open the Passwords window where you can see all the saved passwords. The passwords are hidden under the asterisks, but if you select one of the passwords, you would see a small Show button. Clicking on this Show button would display the password in the plain text format.
- You can also remove the passwords from this window. To remove the password, just select the target password and then click on the small cross that appears in the corner.
As you can see, it is very easy for anyone to view your saved passwords in the Chrome browser without requiring any special software tools. If you do not want just about anyone to view your saved passwords, then you should make it a habit of not saving the passwords for the sensitive sites e.g., your online banking passwords, PayPal etc.
